Where judgment actually helps, ohmail offers something: a door for a new sender, a draft in your voice, a nudge for a thread that went quiet. Every one of them waits for your yes, and nothing ever sends itself.

ohmail's answer to every row is the same answer: it's your mailbox. Several of them, in fact — ohmail organizes five, ten, fifty IMAP mailboxes at once, drafts replies in your voice, learns your decisions into rules you can read and change, and never asks you to change your address, your provider, or your other mail apps.
These are good products made by people who care about mail. The right model is the one that fits your life, and it may not be ours — that is a fine outcome. We only insist on one thing: the choice should stay yours, and so should the mailbox.
Where your mail lives.
The honest answer is different per tier — so here it is, per tier.

- Desktop is designed so your mail never touches our servers: sync, rules and search all run on your machine. That design is not shipped yet — today's Desktop apps are a preview of the interface with no mailbox connection at all, and the local engine is in development.Desktop-only is meant to be a complete way to use ohmail, forever — no account, no cloud, nothing of yours on our side, and not a trial version of anything. We will say here the day the engine lands.

- Cloud keeps a full copy of your mail — bodies, headers, subjects and senders, not just metadata — on EU servers, for one purpose: delivering sync, push and search to your devices. Storage is encrypted at rest, connections between your devices and ohmail are encrypted in transit, and your mailbox credentials are additionally encrypted at the application level. It is not end-to-end encrypted — the service has to read mail to file and search it, and a small number of people with production database access could technically read it. Never sold, never mined, never used for anything but serving you. Deleting your account erases that data from live systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. The full privacy policy, naming exactly who can access what, publishes before the first real mailbox connects; the subprocessor and retention list linked in the footer is live today.Why a cloud exists at all: your phone can’t keep a connection to your mailbox open all day — the battery and the operating system won’t allow it. Something has to stay awake to notice new mail and tap you on the shoulder. That is what Cloud is for — push, mobile and the web — and doing that job is why it holds a copy of your mail rather than only your rules.

- AI requests go to Anthropic under commercial API terms: your mail is never used to train models, and Anthropic retains requests only briefly under its standard policy (currently up to 30 days). Questions, answered.
What happens to my existing folders?
Nothing destructive. The folders you already have are left exactly as they are; ohmail organizes new mail into real IMAP folders on your server. Everything stays visible to any other mail client, on any device.
Can I leave?
Anytime. Your mail never needs exporting — the originals live on your own server, in ordinary folders ohmail created in place, and nothing we do touches them. Be clear about what Cloud holds, though: a full copy of that mail — bodies, headers, subjects and senders — alongside your rules, tags and notes, because that is what makes search and push work. All of it is deleted with your account.
Where does the AI run?
On Cloud: on our servers, within your included actions — that is the part being wired for the beta, and no live model is connected in production yet. On Desktop the plan is that you point it wherever you like — your own API key, or a local model so nothing leaves your machine — and that arrives with the local engine rather than today. Either way, rules with no AI at all run first and are meant to handle most mail — and you can switch the AI off entirely without losing a single feature that files your mail.
What exactly is an AI action?
One unit of AI work: a Screener suggestion for a new sender, a summary, a drafted reply. When your monthly actions run out, mail keeps flowing rules-only until the next cycle. There are no overage charges — ever.
Do you read my mail?
Not as a matter of practice, and our admin tools cannot display message content — that's enforced by tests. The honest fine print: Cloud mail is stored unencrypted at the application level and is not end-to-end encrypted, so someone with production database access could technically read it; that access is held by very few people, and the product privacy policy will spell out who and under what conditions when it publishes, before the first real mailbox connects. On Desktop the question won't arise — your mail is never meant to reach our servers — but the local engine is still in development. The spy-pixel blocker is built and tested, and is not yet switched on in the reading path; it blocks trackers and records who tried once it is.
Which providers work?
Any IMAP mailbox: your own domain at Metanet or Infomaniak, iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, a self-hosted server. If it speaks IMAP, ohmail organizes it in place. Native Exchange sync over Microsoft Graph is on the roadmap; today Microsoft 365 connects over IMAP like everything else.
Is there a trial for Cloud?
Yes — 14 days, no card. It is the whole product except the managed AI actions: rules, sync, push, mobile and web all run, and the included AI actions begin when a subscription does. Desktop needs no trial at all; it is simply free.
Desktop or Cloud — what’s the real difference?
The same model, the same vocabulary, and deliberately not the same privacy posture — that is the honest difference. Desktop is free and is being built to be fully standalone: all processing local, no account, no artificial limits, with your own AI key or a local model. It is not there yet; today it is a preview of the interface with no mailbox connection. Cloud adds the web and mobile apps, push notifications, always-on processing while your computer sleeps, and AI included from $9 a month — and it holds a copy of your mail on our servers to do that. Both open with the beta.
